Roster vs Brandbassador (Club): Ambassador Platforms Compared

Last updated September 2026
Brandbassador is now Club. It is a mission-based community platform: brands publish missions, ambassadors complete them in the Club app, and rewards go out as points, gift cards, cash, or free product. Club has been doing this since 2016 and does it well. The difference that matters to a growing ecommerce brand is what you can buy at the entry level, and whether you can see the price before you talk to sales. Roster publishes three plans starting at $599 a month on the Shopify App Store, and recruiting customers into the program, milestones, points, and payouts are all in the first tier. Club publishes three tiers with no prices on any of them, and puts community recruitment and loyalty in the enterprise plan.

Brandbassador is now Club

If you searched for Brandbassador and landed on Club, that is the rebrand. Club announced it on their own site: the name changed, existing accounts, data, and live campaigns moved across, and the Brandbassador app became the Club app. Their framing is that the product moved from managing tasks to hosting owned communities. The transition is still in progress in public. Club runs on club.co, some pages still resolve on brandbassador.com and club.me, and their Shopify App Store listing is still published under the Brandbassador name. Worth knowing if you are trying to find current documentation or support during an evaluation. This page uses both names, because the software most brands are shortlisting is still the one they knew as Brandbassador.

How Roster and Club differ

Missions versus program infrastructure

Club’s model is the mission. You define a task, ambassadors claim it in the app, you reward completion. Club ships over 200 pre-made campaign templates and a mission builder with segmentation, and their own marketing leans on gamification and engagement. It is a good engine for activity, and for a brand with a community manager whose job is to keep that engine fed, it works. Roster starts from the ambassador rather than the task. Customers get invited into the program after they buy, milestone journeys move them through tiers without anyone publishing a mission that week, and product seeding, discount codes, referral tracking, and payouts all run off the same record inside Shopify. Engagement is automated rather than authored.

What you can actually buy at the entry level

This is the comparison most buyers miss, and it is on Club’s own pricing page. Club sells three tiers: Hub, Suite, and Universe. Hub, the starter plan, includes their Engage, Communicate, and Affiliate modules. Insights and Manager start at Suite. Recruit, the module for growing your community, and Loyalty are only in Universe, the enterprise plan. So on the starter plan you can run missions, message your community, and track affiliate sales, but reporting, ambassador management tooling, recruitment, and loyalty tiers sit behind two upgrades. For a brand at $1M to $25M in revenue that is trying to turn its existing customers into ambassadors, recruitment is not an enterprise feature. It is the whole first step. Roster’s Starter plan at $599 a month includes unlimited contacts, referrals, and commissions, custom rewards, milestones and points, one program with two active campaigns, basic social listening, and PayPal and Venmo payouts. Growth at $1,199 adds three programs, more campaigns and actions, full social listening, and dedicated support. Pro at $2,299 adds six programs, more admin seats, multiple accounts, and regular strategy check-ins. All three carry a 14-day free trial.

What you pay and how you find out

Club’s pricing page lists all three tiers as price on request. The calls to action are get a quote, book a demo, and request enterprise pricing. There is no published number anywhere on their site, so the only way to learn what Club costs is to take a sales call. Roster’s plans and prices are published on the Shopify App Store listing, where any buyer can read them without talking to anyone. Every Roster plan is a flat monthly subscription. There is no revenue share and no affiliate fee on any tier, so the sales your ambassadors drive are yours at full margin and the bill does not grow as the program does. Club does not publish its pricing model, so ask them directly how their fee is structured.

Signs you need more than a mission engine

    • Mission completion is up and revenue attributed to the program is not
    • Somebody on your team spends hours a week writing and scoring missions
    • Engagement drops the week that person is on vacation
    • Your best prospects are customers who already bought, and nothing invites them in automatically
    • Product seeding is a manual fulfillment task rather than a triggered one
    • You are collecting UGC without the rights to run it as an ad
    • Paying ambassadors means a spreadsheet, and tax paperwork at year end is somebody’s problem

Where Club is the better choice

You run on Magento, Centra, or a mixed stack. Club publishes integrations for Shopify and Shopify Plus, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, and Centra. If Shopify is not your only storefront, that breadth is real and it matters. You do not have a community yet and want inbound applications. Club runs a consumer-facing app with an existing creator base who browse and apply to brands. Roster is built to activate the customers you already have. If you do not have many, Club’s supply side is an advantage Roster does not try to match. Missions are genuinely your program. Club has been building mission mechanics since 2016, ships over 200 campaign templates, and has the community wall, push notifications, and gamification depth to back it. If you have a community manager who enjoys that work and your KPI is engagement volume, Club is good at the thing it is good at, and switching would cost you something. You are enterprise, European, or want it run for you. Club is London-based with brands like Samsung, Celsius, Daniel Wellington, and Fabletics in its customer list, and their higher tiers include a managed service layer. If you want a vendor to operate the program rather than hand you the tooling, ask them about it.

Switching from Club to Roster

Ambassador lists and commission structures import into Roster from CSV, so the first step is asking Club to export your community data and your commission history. Check what format you get back before you commit to a timeline. The harder part is program design, not data. Moving off a mission-driven program means deciding which missions should become automated milestones and which were only ever there to create activity. Roster’s onboarding covers that.

Frequently asked questions

Is Brandbassador still around?

Yes. Brandbassador rebranded to Club. According to Club’s own announcement, existing accounts, data, and active campaigns moved to the Club platform, and the Brandbassador app became the Club app. The company behind it is Brandbassador Ltd, still listed at a London address on its Shopify App Store listing.

How much does Brandbassador cost?

Club does not publish prices. Its pricing page lists three tiers, Hub, Suite, and Universe, each marked price on request, and routes you to a demo or a quote. Third-party reviewers have published estimates based on demo data, but none of those figures come from Club, so treat them as unverified and get a number from the vendor.

Is Brandbassador legit?

Yes. It is an established platform, founded in 2016 by the team behind the ecommerce brand Onepiece and headquartered in London, now operating as Club. This question is usually asked by creators who have been invited to a brand’s program rather than by brands choosing software. If that is you, the platform is real and the brand inviting you chose it.

Does Brandbassador integrate with Shopify?

Yes. Club publishes a Shopify integration and has a listing on the Shopify App Store, still published under the Brandbassador name, which automates discount code creation and sales tracking. It also publishes integrations for WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, and Centra.

What are the best Brandbassador alternatives?

It depends on which part of the program you are solving. Roster if you want to recruit ambassadors from your own buyers and run ambassadors, affiliates, and creators with tracking and payouts in one place, on published pricing. SocialLadder if your program is campus, field, or event-driven. If mission design is genuinely working for you, staying put is a reasonable answer.

Can I keep my ambassadors when I switch?

Yes. Lists and commission structures import into Roster from CSV. Ambassadors get new links and codes.

Does Roster take a percentage of my sales?

No. Roster’s published plans are flat monthly subscriptions at $599, $1,199, and $2,299. There is no revenue share and no affiliate fee on any plan, so your program economics do not get worse as it works.
