Milestones
Give ambassadors a reason to still be here in month nine
Milestones turn accumulated points into a tiered ladder — like frequent flyer status — where each level unlocks product, perks, discounts, or something only your brand can offer.
Scoped per program. Tiers, rewards, and completion behavior all configurable.

Most ambassador programs peak in week three
The welcome campaign lands, people post, and then nothing.
No visible next thing
If the member cannot see what comes after the current task, the program is a series of disconnected requests.
Rewards with no ladder
Paying per action means every reward is the same size forever. There is no reason to increase effort.
Attrition you cannot see
Without tiers, you have no early signal that someone stalled — just a member who quietly stopped posting.
How a milestone series works
Build the ladder once, then let points do the work.
Plan the tiers
Decide how many levels, the point threshold for each, and what unlocks. Use the Milestone Series Worksheet to model realistic earning rates and estimate how long each tier takes to reach.
Attach the rewards
Each milestone can carry a product reward, a discount or store credit, or a fully custom reward. On Shopify, product rewards can generate the order automatically when the member redeems.
Choose the completion behavior
Milestones can work as a one-time ladder or repeat, depending on whether you want status that is earned once or a cycle members re-enter.
What you can build
Multiple tiers
Bronze through whatever you want to call the top. Each with its own threshold and reward.
Automated product rewards
On Shopify, members pick from a curated selection and Roster generates the order. No manual fulfillment.
Manual and custom rewards
Anything you fulfill yourself, from swag to a call with the founder to a retreat invitation.
Shoppable rewards
Give a dollar value the member spends across a collection rather than a fixed product.
Program scoping
Different ladders for different programs, so athletes and customer advocates are not chasing the same tiers.
Editable after launch
Update the reward attached to an existing milestone without rebuilding the series.
Rewards
Automated fulfillment is the difference
A milestone that requires someone on your team to notice, pick, pack, and ship is a milestone that gets forgotten. Shopify brands can set product rewards to auto-generate an order when the member redeems, with product limits, hidden products, flat-rate or country-specific shipping, and multiple product groups.
For everything else, Roster tracks what is owed, flags what needs fulfilling, and supports bulk export and marking as fulfilled.

Visibility
The member can see the whole ladder
In the portal, members see their points balance, the next milestone, how far away it is, and everything they have already unlocked. That visible gap is the mechanism — it is the reason someone completes one more action this month.
On your side, milestone progress becomes an early warning system for members who have stalled.

Designing tiers that work
Four things brands get wrong the first time.
Too far apart
If tier one takes four months, most members never see a reward. Make the first one reachable in weeks.
Too cheap at the top
The final tier should feel genuinely worth chasing, or the ladder stops mattering halfway up.
No math
Model expected earnings from campaigns, actions, and referrals before setting thresholds.
No communication
Announce the ladder. A tier nobody knows about motivates nobody.
The Milestone Series Worksheet exists precisely because these four are so easy to get wrong.
Milestones need
Questions brands ask
Do we need points to use milestones?
Yes. Milestones are unlocked by point thresholds, so members need a way to earn points through referrals, actions, or campaigns.
Can different programs have different milestones?
Yes. Milestone series are scoped to programs, so each audience can have its own ladder.
Can we change a reward after launch?
Yes, you can update the reward attached to an existing milestone without rebuilding the series.
How do product rewards get fulfilled?
On Shopify they can be fully automated — the member selects, and Roster creates the order. Otherwise Roster tracks what is owed and supports bulk fulfillment and export.
Can milestones repeat?
Yes, depending on the completion behavior you choose. Some brands run a one-time status ladder, others a repeating cycle.
